The Una-Sana Canton (the northwest part of Bosnia and Herzegovina) abounds in large forest areas, where the self-sown sweet chestnuts Castanea sativa Mill. grow. However, plant has been endangered due to negative effects disease-causing agents, harmful insects, human factors (uncontrolled logging). Moreover, chestnut weevil Curculio elephas causes significant damage local fruit. This study aims analyze emergence pest which it produces areas northwestern Herzegovina, precisely Canton. presence examined on samples taken from 15 locations municipalities Cazin, Velika Kladuša Bužim. In order research this phenomenon more precisely, each fruit cut, larvae have separated inner observed. number noted per a sample.
